If you know someone in the military, you probably noticed that he/she throws out a lot of acronyms, initialisms, and other jargon that is confusing and downright unnecessary. LZ, landing zone, LD, line of departure, ECM, electronic counter measure, PT, physical training, libo, liberty, Blue Falcon…
CrossFit can be the same way. “The WOD is double alternating Tabata of SDLHP and HPSU. Count lowest score. 3, 2, 1, go!” Says the coach. Say what?
So let’s break some of this down for ya:
WOD – Workout of the Day
AMRAP – As Many Rounds/Repetitions As Possible
SDLHP – Sumo Deadlift High Pull
C2B pull-ups – Chest to Bar pull-ups
K2E – Knees to Elbows
T2B – Toes to Bar
HPC – Hang Power Clean
HPS – Hang Power Snatch
C&J – Clean and Jerk
HSPU – Handstand Push-Up
OHS – Overhead Squat
KBS – Kettlebell Swing
Metcon – Metabolic Conditioning (think cardio)
TGU – Turkish Get-Up
SGBNPJ – Snatch Grip, Behind the Neck, Push Jerk (okay, seriously?)
The list is long. But the important take away is if you have a question on something we do here, please ask. Chances are someone else probably has that same question.

So what is Tabata? Might want to add that one to the list.
